A new survey of hiring professionals and job seekers finds that employers aren't in tune to what employees are seeking from new jobs. It's not always a hunt for more money.
The Execu|Search Group, which has a Hartford office, found in its survey of employers/hiring decision makers that there is a disconnect between what employers think job-seekers and employees are looking for and what they really want. Employers ranked salary and benefits higher than advancement opportunities while slightly more than half of job seekers wanted new jobs with professional development opportunities.
Outside of that disconnect, it's a good time to be seeking new employment. The survey found nationally 66 percent of employers surveyed plan to hire additional staff in 2016.
Employees are also finding more opportunities out there, which means increased competition by employers for filling vacancies. The study said 56 percent of employees said they interviewed for two or more roles during the interview process for their current position.
