The organizers of an annual parade celebrating the Hartford founder Thomas Hooker said the event will be pushed from its usual October date to May 13, 2017.
The Hartford Business Improvement District said Thursday that the changed schedule is part of an effort to give the parade a makeover.
The new Hooker Day will feature dozens of musical acts, food trucks and local vendors, a craft beer garden, child-friendly activities, classic car show and, of course, the best parade around," BID said in a statement.
"The new date will allow organizers time to grow this community favorite event and incorporate more Hartford schools and community organizations," it said.
The parade was founded in 1990 by former Mayor Michael Peters.
