Winterfest's crowdfunding campaign has raised $200,000 to save the months-long free ice skating and holiday events program, according to its website.
Jackie Gorsky Mandyck, managing director of the iQuilt Partnership Inc., had said in late August the group was scrambling and still had nearly $56,000 to raise by Sept. 1. But by midnight on Sept. 7, according to the website, the goal had been reached. Gorsky Mandyck could not be immediately reached for comment.
Before Hartford budget constraints set back programming earlier this year, Winterfest had come to depend on about $150,000 from the city. The event cost approximately $280,000 last fiscal year.
The event typically opens the day after Thanksgiving.
