Greater Hartford Arts Council among nine state groups to win grants

The Greater Hartford Arts Council has received $30,000 in fiscal 2017 Regional Initiative Grants from the the Connecticut Office of the Arts, the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) said.

A total of $270,000 will be distributed to nine regional organizations, with each regional council or group getting $30,000, said James Watson, spokesman for the state DECD.

The grant award winners in Greater Hartford include:

Ruth Lewis, $4,000; Spectrum in Motion Dance Theater Ensemble, $2,825; Daniel Morel, $4,000; Hartford Opera Theater, $3,725; and Connecticut Summerfest, Inc., $3,725, all in Hartford;Toot and Sliders Musical Tales, $4,000 in New Britain; Farmington Valley Arts Center, $4,000 in Avon; and Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society, $3,725,West Hartford.
