Stamford's High Ridge Brands buys oral care company

Stamford-based High Ridge Brands Co., a personal care consumer products company, announced Tuesday that it recently acquired Dr. Fresh LLC, a Buena Park, Calif., provider of oral care products.

Terms were not disclosed.

High Ridge is a portfolio company of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice. Dr. Fresh was acquired from a private equity fund co-advised by NexPhase Capital LP and Moelis Capital Partners LLC.

Dr. Fresh provides oral care products for all ages sold under brands such as Firefly, REACH, Dr. Fresh, Binaca and Dazzling White and sold through retailers across mass, dollar, food and drug channels primarily in North America and Europe. Dr. Fresh's portfolio, which includes manual and power toothbrushes, travel kits, rinse and floss items, holds market positions across niche oral care categories such as children's, value and travel kits, according to a news release from Clayton, Dubilier & Rice.

The Firefly brand, for children's oral care, encourages healthy oral care habits through features such as flashing lights for optimal brushing time, suction cups that reduce bathroom mess and popular characters through its licenses of Star Wars, Spiderman and Hello Kitty.

The transaction is being funded with a combination of cash, debt and equity financing.
