Yvette MelÚndez has been appointed interim president of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, effective March 20.
MelÚndez will replace Linda J. Kelly, who has served the foundation as president for more than 11 years and is retiring.
MelÚndez, who will serve as interim until a new president is named, is not a candidate for the position. She will take a leave of absence from the board during this time.
MelÚndez has served on the Hartford Foundation's board for close to 12 years, the last three as chair. She has more than 30 years of successful managerial experience in state government, higher education and at Hartford Healthcare, from which she is recently retired.
JoAnn H. Price, chair of the Hartford Foundation board of directors, praised Kelly's "long and successful leadership" as well as MelÚndez's management skills.
An executive search is underway.
