UConn School of Business to Induct Four Alumni Into Hall of Fame

Four UConn alumni will be inducted into the University of Connecticut School of Business' Hall of Fame in March.

Inductees include George Aylward, president and CEO of Virtus Investment Partners Inc. of Hartford; Shari G. Cantor, mayor of West Hartford and member of the UConn board of trustees; John Fodor, former executive vice president of global distribution and a board member for The Capital Group/American Funds; and John Malfettone, senior managing director, chief compliance officer and the leader of portfolio procurement/portfolio insurance programs at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Inc.

Junior Achievement of Southwest New England Receives National Honor

Junior Achievement of Southwest New England has been awarded one of Junior Achievement USA's highest honors, the 5-Star Award.

The award recognizes Junior Achievement staff and boards that meet the organization's national standards in operational efficiency and provide strong representation of the nonprofit's brand.

Ken Crowley Recognized by Ford Motor Company

Ken Crowley of Crowley Ford Lincoln in Plainville is one of six dealers worldwide to receive a Salute to Dealers award from Ford Motor Company, for his contributions to the community.

As part of the award, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services is donating $10,000 to a charity of each dealer's choice.

Trinity, CSCU heads co-chair innovation panel

The presidents of Hartford's Trinity College and the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) system have been named co-chairs for a working group of private and public colleges devising a plan by May 1 to support innovation and entrepreneurship in Connecticut.

Joanne Berger-Sweeney, a neuroscience professor and Trinity's president, and CSCU President Mark E. Ojakian co-chair the working group of more than 30 presidents of public and independent institutions of higher education.

The working group was convened in response to state statute and is charged with producing a master plan to foster opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship at institutions of higher education statewide, officials said.
