Community Health Center Association of CT selects eConsult provider

The Community Health Center Association of Connecticut has selected AristaMD of La Jolla, Calif., to provide eConsults with specialists for patients of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) statewide.

The association, which represents 16 of the state's 17 FQHCs serving mostly Medicaid or Husky patients, expects the pilot program to demonstrate cost savings for the state, said Deb Polun, the association's director of government affairs and media relations. A federal grant will initially cover the cost of the eConsults, she said.

With the AristaMD software, FQHC primary care physicians can request a specialist for an eConsult regarding a patient and receive a recommendation on whether that patient should, for example, see a specialist in the area or perhaps be treated in some other way and then followed up with, Polun said. AristaMD offers eConsults with a board-certified, national panel of specialists covering 35 specialty and subspecialty areas.
