The Mohegan tribe, owners of the Mohegan Sun, said Monday they have started talks with Elegant Clinical Services in East Windsor to help provide additional employment opportunities regionally for individuals with intellectual, developmental and mental health disabilities.

The Mohegan tribe is partnering with the Mashantucket tribe to develop an entertainment and gaming facility in East Windsor. Though the project has yet to be approved by the state legislature, the Mohegan tribe says talks with Elegant are part of its continuing effort to build long-standing partnerships with Connecticut companies in the vicinity of its properties.

Elegant is a facility where mentally challenged individuals go to find a place in the community by learning rules for life and doing work that makes them dependable, competent employees.

Elegant co-founder and CEO Dr. Karen Gaston said she believes a partnership with the casino owners "will be a good fit for both of us and provide a significant benefit for the community."
