Kaman inks Rolls' engine-parts pact

Bloomfield aeroparts maker Kaman Corp. says it will supply British jet-engine maker Rolls-Royce Plc with engine parts made in Bloomfield and other Kaman facilities.

Kaman, attending this week's Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, France, said Monday its Kaman Aerosystems division signed a long-term agreement with Rolls-Royce for components for Rolls' Trent 7000 engine program for Airbus A330 widebody jetliner.

Kaman's facilities in Bloomfield, Bennington, Vt., Wichita, Kan., and Darwen, United Kingdom, will make the parts.

Financial terms weren't disclosed.

"We are honored to have been selected by Rolls-Royce for this important program, a step change in power plant efficiency for the A330 platform" Kaman Aerosystems President Jim Larwood said in a statement. "This significant award is recognition of our collaborative commitment to Rolls-Royce programs and the 'One Kaman' concept-to-completion capability that Kaman Aerosystems can provide on technically challenging projects."

The Paris Air Show began Monday and runs through Thursday.
