Q&A:

What do you do in your current job? I work with donors and patrons at The Bushnell to improve their overall experience, educate individuals about our nationally recognized arts-in-education programs for children in and around Hartford, solicit donations and run our young professionals initiative.

What are your goals in your current job? I am building The Bushnell's young professionals program to engage my peers through our networking events, pre-show receptions and volunteer opportunities. Many people are unaware of the work The Bushnell does in the community, so it's important that I help educate our patrons and donors.

What's your biggest passion? Arts education for children. I have been in the arts industry my entire life. I spent 12 years facilitating art therapy programs for inner-city kids and I can personally attest to the power and impact the arts has on people of all ages. I have seen the arts give children and adults an opportunity to learn in a different way, gain self-confidence and find new ways to express themselves.

What are your future professional aspirations? I see myself managing an arts nonprofit or playing a role in corporate giving through a private company. I like the idea of managing a team that supports the community in a unique and creative way.

How are you involved in the community? I am co-chair of programming for the Bushnell Park Foundation, where I help to plan events for the community to enjoy the outdoors in downtown Hartford. I am a board member of Outreach To Haiti, a Connecticut- based nonprofit that provides life-saving medical support in Haiti.

If you had one wish to brighten Greater Hartford's economic future what would it be? That more individuals and companies who are not generally involved in the Hartford community could see all that this beautiful city has to offer. Having lived in Brooklyn, New York for a long time I have seen how creativity, investment and ingenuity can create a successful and rapidly growing economy. Hartford already has incredible assets and I think with a combined creative vision we can continue to make this a growing city with a range of opportunities for the community.

List four reasons why you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty: I received the Presidential Service Award under President Obama. My dedication to arts education for inner-city kids and families. As co-chair of events and programming for the Bushnell Park Foundation, I help to create unique opportunities for the community to enjoy the park. With a background in event planning, I have helped many local organizations with planning their annual fundraising events.
