Norwalk homecare company acquired by NJ firm

A New Jersey-based home healthcare company, CareFinders Total Care LLC, has acquired Norwalk's Sovereign Home Health of Connecticut LLC, which provides personal care and companion services to about 125 clients in their homes and other facilities in Fairfield County and surrounding communities.

Terms of the deal were not released.

"We're planning on many more" homecare acquisitions in Connecticut, said Linda Mintz, co-chairman of CareFinders, which she called the largest home care provider in New Jersey. The company wants to have offices throughout Connecticut, she said.

CareFinders also provides non-skilled homecare services to more than 8,000 patients throughout New Jersey with 16 offices in the state.

Syd Kain, founder and president of Sovereign, said CareFinders' goals and values are consistent with Sovereign's, adding that "the already high quality of care provided to our clients will continue to increase as we transition into the CareFinders family."

CareFinders has completed 14 acquisitions in 3 1/2 years.
