Home sales rose in the Greater Hartford area in July.

The Hartford area's house and condominium sales rose in July, Realtors said.

There were 1,274 single-family dwellings sold in the region last month, up 1.5 percent from 1,255 units sold in July 2016, the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors (GHAR) said Friday.

The median price last month for those sold homes was essentially flat at $232,950 vs. $232,750 a year earlier, GHAR said. Median price means half the houses sold for more and the rest for less.

July's condo sales grew 5.3 percent to 257 units vs. 244 a year ago. Median price rose 2.7 percent to $154,000 from $149,900 a year ago.

"Tightening inventory and an increase in closed sales typically leads to rising prices," said GHAR CEO Jeff Arakelian.
