Connecticut home sales and prices rose in August, Realtors say.

Connecticut single-family house sales rose in August along with median prices, Realtors say.

There were 3,893 houses sold statewide last month vs. 3,822 sold in Aug. 2016, Connecticut Realtors said Wednesday.

Median prices for those sales were $274,000 last month vs. $267,750 a year ago, Realtors said. Median indicates that half the homes sold for more and half for less.

Condo/townhome sales fell 2.8 percent to 891 last month vs. 917 a year earlier.

However, median sale prices for those units rose 4.7 percent to $175,828 vs. $168,000, the group said.
