Stamford's Kingspan Energy has wrapped work on a one-megawatt rooftop solar array at Carmen Arace Middle and Intermediate School in Bloomfield.

The nearly 3,000-panel array is expected to shave $40,000 per year off the school's $250,000 energy bill -- savings that will total $1.1 million over the 25-year life of the power purchase agreement the school signed.

The Connecticut Green Bank provided financing for the project. Work was completed in late July, according to Kingspan, which is a subsidiary of Ireland-based Kingspan Group.
