Hartford InsurTech hub snags $1M partner

A London-based InsurTech fund is providing up to $1 million in capital as part of a new partnership with Hartford's recently formed InsurTech hub.

Eos Venture Partners (Eos) will make up to $1 million of capital available to participants in the Hartford program, said Sam Evans, Eos' founder and general partner. Eos is already working with Startupbootcamp's InsurTech hub in London and has invested in two of their alumni, he said.

Last month, CTNext and three Connecticut insurers joined forces with Startupbootcamp to launch an accelerator for insurance technology in Hartford.

Sabine VanderLinden, managing director of Startupbootcamp InsurTech, said the partnership "adds a huge amount of value" for participating companies.

The mission for all the insurtech hubs is to drive innovation in insurance across the globe, Evans and VanderLinden said.

"Hartford is an important insurance center in the U.S. and the key themes that will underpin the first program fit nicely with our investment strategy at Eos," said Jonathan Kalman, an Eos general partner based on the East Coast in the U.S.
