Aetna introduces low-cost prescription drug plan

Hartford health insurer Aetna has announced the launch of a new low-cost prescription drug plan (PDP), Aetna Medicare Rx Select (PDP), available Jan. 1 in Connecticut and 26 other states.

The plan features $18 average monthly premiums with no copays for 80 generic medications at preferred pharmacies. The $18 average premium makes the Part D plan one of the lowest-cost plans nationwide in 2018, Aetna said, citing Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services data.

The plan offers enhanced gap coverage and no deductible for Tier 1 and Tier 2 generic drugs.
