The U.S. Army has awarded Stratford helicopter maker Sikorsky a $194 million contract to supply 17 of its UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters to Saudi Arabia.

Sikorsky, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, will manufacture eight UH-60Ms for the Saudi Arabian National Guard and nine for the Royal Saudi Land Forces Airborne Special Security Forces under the foreign military sales contract, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

The UH-60M is a modernized version of Sikorsky's medium-lift Black Hawk helicopter, featuring an advanced avionics suite as its centerpiece, according to information on the company's website.

Work will be done in Stratford and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2022, the defense department said.
