Report: Fewer homeowners late on mortgage payments in Nov.

Fewer Hartford area homeowners were late paying their mortgages in November, according to the latest report from CoreLogic.

The percent of mortgages delinquent by at least 30 days (including those in foreclosure) in November dropped to 5.1 percent from 5.6 percent in Nov. 2016, the property analytics firm said Tuesday.

In the region, the percentage of mortgages in serious delinquency (90-plus days past due) was also lower -- 2.1 percent in Nov. 2017 compared with 2.5 percent in the year-ago period. The foreclosure inventory rate was 0.8 percent compared with 1.1 percent a year earlier, CoreLogic said.

The decline mirrors a continuing national trend, with the percentage of delinquent mortgages dipping to 5.1 percent from 5.2 percent in the year-ago period. Serious delinquencies were down to 2 percent from 2.3 percent in the year-ago period. Likewise, the foreclosure inventory rate declined to 0.6 percent in November compared to 0.8 percent in the year-ago period.
