Veteran Connecticut manufacturing executive Paul M. Murphy is the new executive director of the Aerospace Components Manufacturers (ACM), effective March 19.

Murphy, a past ACM president and board member who retired last Aug. as president of Farmington aeroparts maker Mallory Industries, succeeds Allen Samuel. Samuel has served as the Rocky Hill lobby group's only executive director since its launch 18 years ago.

ACM represents 120 small- to mid-size aeroparts makers/suppliers in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts.

Another long-time Connecticut manufacturing executive, Bruce Fiedorowicz, was previously tapped to succeed Samuel, but resigned for personal reasons soon after he was hired late last year.

Murphy has also held senior-level posts with other Connecticut aeroparts makers, including GKN Aerospace, AGC Inc., EDAC Technologies, Sterling Machine Co. and Stowe Machine Co. He also held an ownership stake in Precision Speed Manufacturing.

Murphy chairs the Advanced Manufacturing Employer Partnership and is a member of the Asnuntuck Community College Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center advisory board.
