The state of Connecticut has contained a ransomware virus cyber attack at 12 state agencies.

A weekend cybersecurity attack that infected 160 computers across 12 Connecticut agencies has been contained, state officials said early Monday.

Starting late Friday afternoon, the state's security monitoring system detected a "suspicious event" considered to be a ransomware virus. The state Department of Administrative Services (DAS) spokesman Jeffrey Beckham said the agency worked with state agencies and mobilized the IT workforce and by Sunday night had contained the virus.

Beckham did not specify which state agencies had been targeted.

"We have no reports of files being encrypted or any data loss," Beckham said in a statement. "We are not expecting any significant impact to state business."

Security monitoring will continue today, he added.
