Christian Nahas, based in Atlanta, fills the newly created post of president of Edible Brands.

Wallingford franchisor Edible International is opening a second headquarters with 50 jobs in Atlanta to pursue expanded franchise and retail opportunities to sell its fresh fruit snacks and treats.

Edible founder and CEO Tariq Farid said Thursday Connecticut will remain its home base.

Farid also announced Christian Nahas, based in Atlanta, was installed to the newly created post of president of Edible Brands, to oversee all of Edible's commercial operations. Nahas most recently was a senior vice president in the Atlanta office of French business consultancy Capgemini SE.

Atlanta's central location and access to major transportation hubs was attractive for Edible's next phase of growth into new markets and product categories, Farid said. Edible has nearly 1,300 Edible Arrangements locations worldwide.

Edible is scouting Atlanta, he said, for enough office and distribution space to accommodate an eventual expansion of its staffing there to 200 workers over time.
