Yale New Haven Hospital has renewed its contract with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Yale New Haven Health said Monday they've renewed their contract ahead of schedule, ensuring Yale's hospitals remain in network through 2020.

Vincent Tammaro, YNNH's chief financial officer, said in a statement that the renewal 10 months ahead of schedule "eliminates the potential for disruption of care."

Terms were not disclosed, but Yale's Connecticut hospitals include Yale New Haven, Bridgeport, Greenwich and Lawrence + Memorial. Yale's network also includes Westerly Hospital in Rhode Island. The contract between the two was set to expire in October.

The early agreement stands in contrast to a previous contract signed between Anthem and Yale Medicine, in Oct. 2016, which came just days before their previous deal expired.

Meanwhile, a contract between Hartford HealthCare and Anthem lapsed for approximately seven weeks late last year, with a contract reached Nov. 18.
