Cigna reunites ‘TV Doctors’ in ad campaign

The TV Doctors of America campaign, featuring Neil Patrick Harris, Donald Faison, Kate Walsh and Patrick Dempsey, will again headline Cigna's marketing campaign to emphasize the importance of preventive care.

Bloomfield health insurer Cigna has reunited with four TV stars in a marketing campaign meant to spur annual medical check-ups.

The TV Doctors of America campaign, including Neil Patrick Harris, Patrick Dempsey, Donald Faison and Kate Walsh, has returned to emphasize the importance of preventive care. A Cigna spokeswoman said Thursday the advertising campaign will be featured through social media, out-of-home advertisements and online.

The campaign supports Cigna's Go, Know and Take Control message, which encourages people to call or text Cigna's campaign stars. Users will then be given the opportunity to opt-in to receive a reminder from one of the celebrities 30 days later to schedule their annual check-up, Cigna said.

Cigna did not disclose the cost of the marketing campaign.

Stephen Cassell, the vice president of global branding at Cigna, said the campaign strengthens the company's personalized communications with customers. Cassell said they experienced an 18 percent increase in annual check-ups from Cigna customers over the past two years

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 100,000 lives could be saved if people received the recommended preventive care they need, which is facilitated by annual check-ups. CDC said Americas use preventive services at roughly half the recommended rate even though the appointments are covered under most health insurance plans.
