Mohegan Sun reported higher slot revenues in May even though slot bettors wagered less during the month.

In May, Mohegan tribal operators posted slot revenue of more than $51.7 million, up about 2.3 percent from $50.6 million it recorded in May 2017.

The amount slot bettors wagered in May, known as the "handle," was $616.8 million, a $3.5 million fall from the $620.3 million wagered in the year-ago period, casino operators said. By comparison, the casino's handle was $629.8 million in May 2016.

The Uncasville casino contributed $12.9 million in gaming taxes to the state for the month.
