East Hartford jet-engine maker Pratt & Whitney Co. kicked off its attendance at this year's British air show by announcing an engine delivery-maintenance pact with a Lebanese air carrier.

Pratt did not disclose Monday the value of its firm order from Middle East Airlines for delivery and maintenance of its fuel-efficient, quieter geared turbofan engines to power 11 of the air carrier's Airbus A320neo twin-engine passenger jetliners.

MEA currently operates nine of Pratt's V2500-powered A320 family aircraft, said Rick Deurloo, Pratt senior vice president of sales, marketing and customer support.

Britain's Farnborough International Airshow rotates with Paris as the gathering place for the world's leading makers of civilian and military jet airframes, engines and related avionics and other systems.
