A cardiac electrophysiologist has joined a digital health company in downtown Hartford as its chief medical officer and vice president of clinical operations.

Belgium-based LindaCare, a software company specializing in remote patient monitoring for chronic heart disease patients, announced that Dr. Robert Lerman will lead their clinical operations at its Hartford office in Upward Hartford's co-working space at 20 Church St.

Lerman, who has 24 years experience in clinical and healthcare leadership, will work with LindaCare's customers focusing on clinical services, product optimization, research and oversee its remote patient monitoring service, among other duties.

He served as medical director of cardiac electrophysiology at Southern California's St. Bernardine Medical Center for for 18 years years.

In 2012, he began serving as the corporate vice president for California-based Dignity Health, a nonprofit organization operating hospital and other care facilities in three states. Lerman also worked with physicians throughout the western U.S. on improving clinical operations at lower costs.

Lerman earned a bachelor's from Stanford University and a medical degree at Albany Medical College in New York.

"Dr. Lerman's electrophysiology background and deep knowledge of the US healthcare system from the perspective of both payers and providers brings unique and multifaceted qualifications to his role at LindaCare," LindaCare CEO Shahram Sharif said.

Founded in 2015, LindaCare officials say its solutions will soon expand to other chronic diseases. LindaCare raised $8.7 million earlier this year and was also a $500,000 prize winner in Connecticut Innovations' first-ever VentureClash competition in 2016.
