Hartford area homes sales fell, along with prices, in June, Realtors say.

There were 1,402 single-family houses sold last months vs. 1,440 sold in June 2017 -- a 2.6 percent decline, the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors (GHAR) said Monday.

Median price for those sold dwellings fell 6.3 percent to $225,000 from $240,000 a year ago, GHAR said.

Through the first half of this year, area home sales are off 2.5 percent, to 5,529. Median price is down 4 percent, to $227,900.

"It is possible potential buyers are stalling because of the low inventory that makes for limited choices," GHAR CEO Holly Callanan said.

Among area condos, June sales fell 4.7 percent, to 304 units, from a year ago. Median price, however, rose 3.6 percent last month to $155,250.

Through the first half, condo sales are down 3 percent, with median price up 5 percent, to $147,000.
