Hamden-based Transact's 2Q net, sales rise

Hamden transaction-hardware vendor Transact Technologies Inc. posted higher second-quarter profits on increased sales of its point-of-sale retail and gaming systems.

For three months ended June 30, TransAct said it netted $1.2 million, or 16 cents a diluted share, up from $900,000, or 12 cents a share, netted the same quarter a year ago.

Second-quarter sales were $14.8 million vs. $13.6 million a year earlier.

CEO Bart Shuldman said demand for its AccuDate restaurant terminals and software drove sales in the latest quarter.
