Yale New Haven Health is building a new regional operations center in West Haven.

City, state and Yale New Haven Health officials plan to break ground today on a new regional operations center in West Haven.

The one-story, 140,000-square-foot center will go up on a 117-acre site at 600 Derby Ave. The health system bought the property in August 2017 for $8 million.

The new facility will serve as the future home of an advanced warehouse for distributing medical supplies throughout the Yale New Haven Health system, officials said.

It is expected to employ up to 95 managers and staff, half of them new positions, when it opens in summer 2019.

The hospital will continue to use its Howard Avenue warehouse in the former SEAMCO building, officials said.

West Haven Mayor Nancy Rossi and state Rep. Dorinda Borer (D) are expected to join YNHHS Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Christopher O'Connor for the 5:30 p.m. groundbreaking at the site.
