Junior Achievement, a national nonprofit with a large statewide reach providing students financial literacy and work readiness services, on Thursday said it consolidated its two Fairfield County operations under one organization.

The combined organization, compromising Junior Achievement of Western CT and Junior Achievement of Southwest CT, is named Junior Achievement of Greater Fairfield County (JAGFC). It will continue delivering Junior Achievement's mission of making students financially responsible and preparing them for the workforce, officials said.

"Merging these two offices will allow us to be more efficient and increase our impact in the local communities," said Berandine Venditto, president of JAGFC and former president of Junior Achievement of Western CT.

Junior Achievement provides students, kindergarten to grade 12, with free programs at schools led by corporate and community volunteers.

Founded in 1919, Junior Achievement reaches nearly five million students each year in 107 U.S. markets.
