SLAM merger opens door to Hollywood

Glastonbury architectural firm The SLAM Collaborative has merged with a prestigious California design house, exposing its brand on the West Coast for the first time.

SLAM merged with Frank Webb Architects, based in Los Angeles, and will continue operating Webb's Venice Boulevard offices with about 12 Webb associates under the banner, "Frank Webb Architects, a SLAM Studio,'' a SLAM spokeswoman said. SLAM has about 220 workers total.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

SLAM, with offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Georgia, is best known as an award-winning designer of mainly municipal, school and corporate and medical office buildings.

SLAM officials said it was motivated to expand its current healthcare and higher education client base on the West Coast.
