A Massachusetts restaurant group says it has acquired McLadden's restaurants in West Hartford, Simsbury and Northampton, Mass.

Bean Restaurant Group announced Friday it completed the purchase of McLadden Restaurant Group, owned by Michael McLadden, which includes three Irish pubs and the space formerly occupied by West Hartford speakeasy-themed eatery, Noble & Co. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The group, including founder Andrew Yee, Peter Picknelly and father-and-son Michael Vann and Kevin Vann, said they will build off McLadden's established brand with minor renovations and an updated menu.

Meantime, the restaurant partners closed Noble & Co. about six weeks ago and began renovating the space into an American-style bistro. The speakeasy opened just over two years ago.

Picknelly, also CEO of Springfield's Peter Pan Bus Lines, said the 3,200-square-foot former speakeasy will be "completely renovated" when it reopens as a "high-end, family, date-night" restaurant in mid October. It will likely be named Union Kitchen, he said.

Abutting McLadden's at 43 LaSalle Road, the restaurant will feature an open kitchen and outdoor seating with unique cocktails and spirits.

"We are excited about the concept and about being in the West Hartford area," Picknelly said.

McLadden's and Union Kitchen will become the restaurant group's first locations in Connecticut.

The group now has 12 locations with others in South Hadley, Springfield and Amherst, Mass.
