An Ohio credit union wants to put its newest out-of-state branch in Cheshire, serving workers at the Macy's Department Stores order-fulfillment facility there, a Connecticut regulatory filing shows.

New Horizons Credit Union Inc., of Cincinnati, Ohio, has applied to the state Department of Banking for permission to establish a branch inside the U.S. retail giant's sprawling distribution center at 475 Knotter Lane, according to a banking department news bulletin posted on its homepage.

New Horizons CEO Gary Hesse says Macy's approached the credit cooperative whose members are also its shareholders about opening a Cheshire branch to serve the credit needs of its workers there. Macy's could not be immediately reached for comment.

Hesse said its Cheshire branch would be limited to serving just Macy's workers. Among New Horizons' varied eligible member groups are staffers at retailer Costco and Roto-Rooter Services, according to its homepage.

With more than $41 million in assets, 84-year-old New Horizons serves more than 5,000 members through six branches in six cities in Ohio, Tennessee, and West Virginia; two of those serve Macy's staffers in Mason, Ohio, and Portland, Tenn.
