New Haven Biz names new managing editor

Michelle Tuccitto Sullo has joined New Haven BIZ as managing editor. She will be responsible for day-to-day management of the publication's digital platforms, including e-news and social media, as well as a regular contributor to the semi-monthly print magazine. Sullo previously was a correspondent, reporter, bureau chief and investigations editor for the New Haven Register, and from 2015-16 was managing editor of the Connecticut Law Tribune. Sullo graduated from Central Connecticut State University and earned a master's degree from Southern Connecticut State University.

The law firm LeClairRyan announced that Elizabeth K. Acee has been named president, sharing senior-executive duties with current Chief Executive Officer C. Erik Gustafson. Based in LeClairRyan's New Haven office, Acee had served as the firm's Litigation Department leader since 2016. She has practiced on the firm's labor and employment team since 2008.

Barker Specialty Co. (BSC) of Cheshire has named Amy Fields director of marketing. Fields is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University. The firm also named Chelsea Fishman, a graduate of the University of Hartford, senior marketing manager. Both Fields and Fishman previously held account manager positions for Barker.

Also at BSC, Maxwell Barker has been named account manager. A graduate of Syracuse University, Barker was previously an account executive at Justworks.

Olivia Monroe and Jessica Defilpo have been named production team specialists. A graduate of Cazenovia College, Monroe comes to BSC from the Human Resource Department at Macy's Logistics. Defilpo, a graduate of South New Hampshire University, comes to BSC from Yalesville Veterinary Hospital.

Charter Oak Financial, one of the largest general agencies of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co., has named Christopher M. Davey managing director of the firm's operations in Hamden and Norwalk. Davey has been a field manager in the financial-services industry since 2014, leading successful teams in business and individual markets. At Charter Oak, he will lead both a newly incorporated team, as well as existing advisors in both Hamden and Norwalk.

The board of directors of Omega Flex Inc. has appointed James M. Dubin a director of the Middletown-headquartered company. Dubin has been designated as a Class 3 director, and will have a term expiring at the 2020 annual shareholder meeting. Dubin is executive chairman of Conair Corp., a diversified consumer products company. He was formerly a partner and co-chair of the Corporate Department of the New York law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP until his retirement from the firm in 2012.

Hooker & Holcombe, a regional firm specializing in employer-based actuarial, investment advisory and retirement plan consulting, has named practice leader and consulting actuary Steve Lemanski a principal of the firm. Also, Stephen Chykirda and Norm Yamamoto have joined Hooker & Holcombe as consulting actuaries.

Lemanski is an enrolled actuary who holds the FSA, FCA and MAAA designations. He joined the firm in 2016 as consulting actuary. In 2018 he was promoted to practice leader of the Actuarial Services Group. Lemanski graduated summa cum laude from Drew University with a BS degree in applied mathematics and economics. Before joining H&H, Lemanski was a principal and consulting actuary for Milliman.
