Connecticut posted a slightly higher volume of homebuilding permits in December, lifting the state's full-year count of filings to erect new single and multifamily dwellings, government data shows.

There were 372 housing permits issued in Dec. 2018 vs. 281 a year earlier in 104 Connecticut communities regularly surveyed by the U.S. Census Bureau, the state Department of Economic and Community Development said Tuesday.

For all of 2018, 3,812 housing permits were granted statewide, just nine more than in 2017, DECD said. In 2016, 4,095 permits were issued, down from their post-Great Recession peak of 5,322 in 2015.

Permits for single-family dwellings held a slight over multi-family permit totals, data showed.
