International beauty store chain Sephora announced a nationwide expansion this week, including a new store in Connecticut.

The chain decided to add a store in Norwalk at the new 700,000-square-foot "SoNo Collection" mall currently under construction. The Norwalk store will be among 35 new locations in 32 cities which Sephora plans to open around the country in 2019.

SoNo Collection is expected to open in the fall, in advance of the holiday shopping season. In addition to Sephora, department stores Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's, apparel retailer J. Jill, and the restaurant Yard House have indicated they plan to be part of the mall.

Sephora sells cosmetics, skin- and hair-care products, and fragrances. Brands range from Sephora's own collection to celebrity lines like Rihanna's Fenty Beauty. Sephora also offers classes on makeup application, individualized recommendations for skincare, fragrance, and color palettes, and beauty services like facials.

Sephora is also opening stores in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, New York, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington state and Washington D.C.

This latest expansion marks five years of significant brick-and-mortar growth, according to the retailer.

Mary Beth Laughton, Sephora's executive vice president of omni retail, said Sephora is working to provide a broad experience for customers, whether it is shopping online or in a store, or attending a local class or event.

"We are thrilled to be opening in even more communities this year, bringing the best of prestige beauty, including our passionate beauty advisors, to more clients across the U.S.," Laughton said, in an announcement.

Sephora currently operates at several mall locations around the state, including in Danbury, Stamford, Trumbull, Waterbury, Farmington, Canton, Manchester, South Windsor and Uncasville.
