Middlefield specialty optics maker Zygo Corp. says it won a multi-million-dollar Air Force contract to supply helmet-mounted displays for training F-16 fighter pilots.
The contract is Zygo's first for training jet pilots, said John Stack, president of Zygo's optical systems division.
Stack said the Air Force wanted a lightweight system that had high visual acuity and field of view. The Army uses the same Zygo equipment to train helicopter pilots, he said.
