FuelCell Energy expands Korean license deal

10/28/09

FuelCell Energy Inc., a Danbury maker of clean-power generators, says it will collect another $10 million from an expanded licensing agreement with its South Korean partner.

POSCO Power, which in June invested $25 million in FuelCell in exchange for licenses to FuelCell's technology, will be allowed to modify the equipment for delivery in the South Korean market, authorities said.

FuelCell said it also will collect a royalty of 4.1 percent of the revenue from each energy unit POSCO sells.

Six FuelCell power generators already are in use in South Korea, which has stiff restrictions on carbon dioxide emissions.
