Emcor elects ex-UTC exec to board

Emcor Group Inc. said Anthony J. Guzzi, who left United Technologies Corp. to become Emcor's president in 2004, was elected to the board of the Norwalk construction and industrial services company.

Guzzi, 45, who also is chief operating officer, expands Emcor's board to 10 with his appointment.

"Tony's proven leadership qualities and passion for operational excellence have been instrumental in making EMCOR the strong industry leader it is today,'' said Emcor Chairman and CEO Frank T. MacInnis.

From 1997 to October 2004, Guzzi held a variety of senior leadership positions at UTC and its Carrier Corp. division. Before that, he was a manager at McKinsey & Co. from 1993 to 1996.

Guzzi has a B.S. in civil engineering and economics from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1986 and received a Harvard M.B.A. in 1993.
