Hospital of Central-CT taps insider as CEO

03/08/10

Clarence J. Silvia has been named president and chief executive officer of The Hospital of Central Connecticut and president of the Central Connecticut Health Alliance, the New Britain hospital's parent.

Silvia, 54, of Manchester, most recently was senior vice president and chief operating officer for Central Connecticut Health and the hospital.

He replaces Laurence Tanner, who has held the organization's top spot since 1987. Tanner is stepping down as president and CEO in preparation for retirement, however he will remain the chief executive of the Central Connecticut Health through June.

Silvia becomes CEO of CCHA on July 1.

Previously, Silvia was president and CEO of Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington, a post he assumed in 1993, after serving as the hospital's executive vice president for seven years.
