Dean to announce run for CT attorney general

03/16/10

Avon lawyer Martha Dean is set to announce that she's seeking the Republican nomination for Connecticut attorney general, the Associated Press reports.

Dean is scheduled to officially declare her candidacy at noon Tuesday at the state Capitol.

She won the Republican nomination in 2002 but lost to Democratic incumbent Richard Blumenthal, who's giving up the seat to run for U.S. Senate. Two other Republicans, state Sen. Andrew Roraback and attorney John Pavia, are exploring runs for attorney general.

Dean says her campaign platform includes working to make the state competitive and prosperous.

She is co-founder of the Hartford Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society, a national group that sponsors debates and discussions on public policy issues.
