Frontier bringing Milwaukee flights to Bradley

For the second time in as many months, an airline has announced that it will begin flying out of Connecticut's Bradley International Airport in the fall.

Frontier Airlines has announced the start of twice daily nonstop flights between Bradley and its hub at Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport on Sept. 27, according to a July 1 release on the airline's site.

This comes after the June announcement from JetBlue Airways of nonstop Florida flights from, beginning in November. Frontier and JetBlue will be the 13^th and 14^th airlines to fly out of the Windsor Locks regional airport that serves Connecticut, southern Massachusetts, and western New York.

The nonstop Milwaukee service will be the first regular Connecticut flight to Wisconsin and one of the few to the Midwest.

Several airlines - Southwest, American and United -- already fly into Chicago's two airports. Delta-Northwest serves Minneapolis, while Delta-Northwest and Continental Airlines serve Detroit, Cincinnati and Cleveland.

Delta recently beefed up its Bradley connections to Midwest airports because hubs like Detroit and Minneapolis are connecting points for travel to China, and Hartford's business community wants that Asian connection, said Neel Shah, Delta's executive liaison to Bradley International.

Frontier recently underwent bankruptcy and was combined with Midwest Airlines by their parent company, Republic Airways Holdings Inc. Frontier's main hubs are Milwaukee and Denver International Airport.
