Foxwoods to be powered by new natural gas co-generation plant

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation Tuesday is unveiling a  new co-generation power plant facility  at Foxwoods Resort Casino. 

The new plant will allow Foxwoods to be fully powered by an environmentally friendly, state-of-the-art co-generation power plant fueled by natural gas, casino officials said.

Additionally, the electric power generator also creates steam, which is harnessed as another power source for building heating and cooling. 

The new co-generation power plant facility should provide significantly cleaner air emissions for southeastern Connecticut, as well as a significant reduction in power demand on local towns equaling fifteen mega-watts of power no longer needed from local power grids, casino officials said.
