As technology has evolved, how have you made your Web site more user friendly for customers to do business with you?
I have spent a lot of time personalizing my site so new readers immediately feel welcomed. The “About Tom” and “Home” pages are two of the most popular pages on the site. The pages are designed to:
1. Give the reader a warm and friendly snapshot of what I offer;
2. Show how the site will help them;
3. Tell the reader what they can expect in the future if they subscribe as regular readers.
How has Web-based communications changed the way you communicate with your employees?
I don’t have employees; I consider my readership the most vital link to the success of the blog. Web-based communications strengthens and deepens existing real world relationships while at the same time creating new virtual relationships, often turning the virtual relationships into rich and meaningful real relationships.
In the end, Web-based communications make it easy for me to help people who are seeking a different perspective on how their videos can resonate with audiences more realistically.
I can easily offer quick and simple tips on how people can produce authentic marketing and branding videos for organizations.
What is the Web technology level of expectation of your customers or clients and how have you met them?
Readers expect short, thought-provoking, stimulating and inspiring articles that they can immediately apply to projects or refer to later when they need practical tips. Sometimes the articles are simply meant to inspire and raise awareness about creativity, branding, marketing or other areas readers wish to explore.
Is e-advertising something you presently use for your business or see your company using in the future?
Presently, I don’t use e-advertising on my site or outside of my site. My intention is to keep the blog commercial-free for as long as possible.
Being advertising-free has helped create a personal and friendly place for people to visit. I don’t have plans to e-advertise outside my site in the near future, either.
Do you use any social networking sites (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) presently, and do you see any useful business applications for your company?
Twitter and LinkedIn are the only two social media sites I’m currently involved in. Simply focusing on these two sites has allowed me to create, grow and sustain a loyal and fabulous community of readers to help spread the word.
I’m also an expert blogger for Fast Company and have an online column, “Let’s See That Again!”
All the sites above are not only useful business applications but are credited toward helping me achieve one single goal: to help and inspire people to create their most authentic and realistic video story possible for organizations.
