Pratt deal extends renewable-power lineup

East Hartford-based Pratt & Whitney Power Systems is buying a majority stake in an Italian manufacturer that Pratt says extends its presence in the renewable power generation market.

Terms of P&W Power's purchase of its stake in Turboden S.r.l., of Brescia, Italy, were not disclosed.

Turboden builds robust turbines and turnkey turbogenerator units biomass, geothermal, solar and industrial heat recovery applications.

P&W Power also makes renewable power generators under the PureCycle product brand.

The agreement with Turboden is an important extension of P&WPower's presence in renewable power generation through its PureCycle product line.

P&W Power President Peter Christman said the Turboden partnership complements its PureCycle line and expands its product portfolio into high temperature and higher power applications.
