Four Hartford area companies are among 13 in Connecticut that earned the top score in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2018 Corporate Equality Index, a measure that assesses diversity and inclusion for LGBTQ workers.
This year, a record-breaking 609 businesses earned the Corporate Equality Index’s top score of 100, up from 517 last year -- a single-year increase of 18 percent, the HRC Foundation said.
Hartford insurer Aetna and the Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., along with Bloomfield insurer Cigna and Farmington’s United Technologies Corp. all scored 100 after being rated in five categories: non-discrimination policies, employment benefits, demonstrated organizational competency and accountability around LGBTQ diversity and inclusion, public commitment to LGBTQ equality and responsible citizenship.
The other Connecticut companies scoring 100 include: Synchrony Financial, CEB Inc., Charter Communications and Indeed in Stamford; Praxair Inc. in Danbury; FactSet Research Systems Inc., Xerox Corp. and Diageo North America in Norwalk; and Boehringer Ingelheim USA Corp. in Ridgefield.
