Julio Figueroa, a decorated U.S. Army Veteran who developed his skills and knowledge in the military, ensures the safety and security of all bank personnel. What’s been your biggest professional/work accomplishment so far in your career?
I advanced from a teller position to an assistant vice president position despite having no previous banking experience. My sheer determination, drive and natural leadership abilities paved my path to success. Windsor Federal’s leadership was instrumental in this rapid growth by providing continued mentorship along the way.
How are you involved in the community?
I have served as a member of the Rocky Hill Fire Department for six years. In 2019, I was elected as vice president of the Rocky Hill Fire Department Association. I also give back to the community by volunteering my time on holidays and weekends at local shelters.
What do you like to do outside of work?
As a volunteer firefighter, I spend time responding to calls and making sure I’m prepared to answer the call of duty. When not helping the community or customers, I’m likely assisting friends or family with various projects. Once in a while, I seize the opportunity to travel for vacation.
Four reasons why you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty:
Made bank history by being the youngest person promoted to bank officer at the age of 27.
Created educational programs on elder abuse, scam avoidance and financial fraud presented in English and Spanish.
Selected by the American Bankers Association as an emerging bank leader and was featured in an ABA video project highlighting the diverse people and careers in banking.
President of the Connecticut Loss Prevention Association, leading a membership of more than 150.
Fun Fact
I was invited on stage to sing “Toes” with the Zac Brown Band.
