Kristin Campanelli is assistant general counsel for ConnectiCare Inc. Campanelli provides legal guidance to ConnectiCare and its affiliates and ensures the company’s regulatory compliance throughout its operations.
Prior to ConnectiCare, she was the assistant deputy commissioner for government relations at the Connecticut Insurance Department, and was associate general counsel in Gov. Ned Lamont’s first administration.
Campanelli has made helping people a cornerstone of her work throughout her career.
What’s been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career?
Throughout my career, I have been committed to ensuring the citizens of Connecticut receive quality health care. I have been an instrumental influence in Connecticut health and insurance law, drafting several bills that passed into law, aimed at protecting consumers and ensuring efficient operations for health insurers.
How are you involved in the community?
I am vice president of the board of directors for the Hartford Gay and Lesbian Health Collective, a nonprofit that ensures quality health care to the LGBTQIA+ community. I’m also an active fundraiser for a number of organizations, including Lambda Legal. I served six years on the Berlin Board of Education and two years on the Town Council.
Why do you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty?
• Pivotal in shaping the state’s health and insurance laws and regulations, providing consumer protection and better coverage for all.
• Leader in the LGBTQIA+ community, having dedicated time and effort to various causes.
• Established strong relationships that run the gamut from political players to community and business leaders to ensure inclusivity in professional and volunteer work.
• Finds success, no matter the environment – government, corporate, nonprofit, politics.
