Rory McGloin is a business communication professor at UConn. McGloin’s career in higher education spans 17-plus years, including engagements with over 10,000 learners and 35 publications.
His research is focused on effective communication training and development programs, as well as examining the impact of communication training in entrepreneurial accelerator programs.
McGloin is also the founder and president of RPM Communication Consulting, a full-service business communication firm aimed at helping business leaders develop their professional communication skills.

What’s been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career?
Launching RPM Communication Consulting represents many facets of my personal and professional growth. I believe communication is a critical value for sustained organizational success, and RPM has provided the opportunity to share that with others. We’ve been fortunate to support many organizations in the state and we’re excited for what the future holds.
How are you involved in the community?
As the son of Irish-immigrants that settled in Hartford, I’ve dedicated my time sharing traditions with the next generation of Irish-Americans. I’m involved in the Hartford Gaelic Athletic Association, serving various leadership roles. In 2021, my teammates and I won the Northeast GAA Championship. In 2022, I founded CT’s first Ladies Gaelic Football.

• Founded a successful and influential business communication consulting firm specializing in contemporary approaches to leadership development.
• Advocate for the city of Hartford’s entrepreneurial communities.
